South Weald CC Season Summary

South Weald CC 2022 Season Summary - Posted 1st October

After another season has been done-and-dusted, it’s safe to say it was a very busy, but enjoyable season! Our 1st XI ended up finishing a respective 4th in division 2 of the mid-Essex league, whilst our 2nd XI finished 7th after an at times, challenging season for them. Our Sunday and T20 side continued to flourish with the latter winning a very close final against Brentwood.

Elsewhere, our junior section continued to grow. Our u13s showed their strength only losing two league games all season and eventually finishing 2nd on a season they should all be proud of.

There were also plenty of new and exciting improvements made around the club, both on and off the pitch. Firstly, the club invested in some long overdue mobile covers as well as preparing a brand new wicket for the season. Alongside our mower purchased from last year, the ground is now looking better than ever.

There were also some playing improvements bringing us into the modern era of cricket with the club getting their first ever T20 kits as well as investing in ‘livestream’ equipment where we can live broadcast our games onto the internet as well as create highlights of the game. This new modernisation, alongside us hitting over 1,000 followers on Instagram during the season, will hopefully get the name of South Weald Cricket Club out into the world!

On a final note, we hope that all these investments will benefit the club, not just in the short term but also in the long-run and help attract much-needed new members to join our treasured village cricket club that will carry on growing long into the future.
