The Chairman's Report 2023 Season Report

We have had another long & eventful season. In my report, I will go through various aspects of the season. When it comes to the finances & playing side, I will keep my comments brief before the captains & treasurer give more detailed reports.
On the pitch we have had mixed results but, in my view, continue to perform well in all areas.

Niall Stringer Foundation - South Weald Cricket Club Charity Game raises over £500

The South Weald Sunday side took on a slightly different opposition today. A combined XI made up of some former (and first time) cricketers captained by Roo all in aid of the Niall Stringer Foundation.
The game was played in great spirit, with South Weald eventual winners by 10 runs, although today was not about the result and all about the Niall Stringer Foundation for which over £500 was raised.

Casino Night at South Weald CC

We can now confirm our first official social event of the season will be held on Friday 21st of July at South Weald Cricket Club!
For the first time, the club will host a casino night which will involve 2 blackjack tables and 1 roulette table (all with professional dealers).
It would be great to get the support of club members and of course friends/girlfriends/wives/partners so we can make this a big night!
Doors open from 7 30pm, and the tables will be in operation from 8pm until 11pm.
There will be prizes for the top 3 people with the highest amount of chips at the end of the night.
Tickets cost £20 each which will include a free drink and a set amount of 'poker chips'.

New bar ready for the 2023 season

New 2023 approaching for South Weald Cricket Club

There’s now only two weeks to go until the new 2023 starts and there’s plenty to look forward to.
We kick start the season off on Sunday 16th April (weather dependant) playing at home against Great Baddow. This is then followed by the first round of the Voneus Village Cup on the 23rd April where we will be travelling to High Roding.

We will be starting our winter nets 8th February. Like in the past, this will be run at the Writtle Indoor cricket which is based at Skeggs Farm. We will be running our nets until the 16th April.

After another season has been done-and-dusted, it’s safe to say it was a very busy, but enjoyable season!
Our 1st XI ended up finishing a respective 4th in division 2 of the mid-Essex league, whilst our 2nd XI finished 7th after an at times, challenging season for them.
Our Sunday and T20 side continued to flourish with the latter winning a very close final against Brentwood.

South Weald T20 Update & New T20 Kit

With a total of 15 senior games played in June (as well as plenty of junior fixtures), it was a busy month at South Weald Cricket Club.
The T20s are now in full flow, and for the first time in the club's history, have recently been boosted by the addition of a new T20 kit.

Final Pre-season / Intra-club Game & Awards Night

Today’s intra-club game saw ‘Team Jim’ take on ‘Team Dom’ on the final Saturday before the start of the league season, and a perfect opportunity to dust off any cobwebs.
Winning the toss and choosing to bat first, South Weald posted 218-8.

After a 5 year absence, South Weald finished their indoor campaign finishing in a respectable 3rd position in division 1 of the Riverside Indoor League.

South Weald CC is based in Brentwood, Essex. Our club is always open to new members of any standards both senior and junior.
We offer plenty of cricket be it senior league cricket, friendly/T20 matches, and plenty of junior cricket as well. There are also weekly senior and junior training sessions throughout the season.

Improved Driveway & Car park at South Weald
